Directions – how to find us
By car or coach (tourist bus):
Coming from Stuttgart/Switzerland/Singen: B 31 in the direction of Lindau,
Coming from Munich/Ulm/Austria: B30/31 in the direction of Donaueschingen: Exit Uhldingen-Mühlhofen.
From Konstanz with the ferry to Meersburg: State route up to Unteruhldingen.
The designated parking facilities at the village entrance are subject to parking fees during the summer months (April to October) (Entry in the Automobile-Navigation System: Unteruhldingen, Ehbachstraße). During the wintertime, parking places will be available in der Seefelder Straße free of charge.
A privately operated shuttle offers transportation between the parking facilities and the Museum.

By train:
Bodensee-Gürtelbahn Basel – Singen – Friedrichshafen – Lindau: hourly schedule in both directions. The stop for the Museum is Uhldingen-Mühlhofen. On foot, you can reach the Lake Dwellings in about 30 minutes following the red signs „Pfahlbauten“. An interesting alternative is to take the Erlebnisbus (adventure bus) to Unteruhldingen.

By regional/local busses:
SeeLinie 7395 Friedrichshafen - Überlingen:
On week days every 30 minutes (on Sundays and holidays every hour), bus stop: Unteruhldingen, Meersburger Straße, from there walk about 700 meters, following the sign “Pfahlbauten”.
In Friedrichshafen and Überlingen connecting trains are available, in Friedrichshafen and Meersburg connection to the ferry from Switzerland and/or Konstanz.
ErlebnisBus (adventure bus) Linie 7399 Salem – Unteruhldingen: April 28 until October 3rd.
Hourly schedule, bus stop: Unteruhldingen Harbor/Pfahlbauten, from there walk about 300 meters along the harbor promenade.
There are direct connections from and to Affenberg and Schloss Salem as well as the train stations Salem and Uhldingen-Mühlhofen (parking free of charge at the train stations and at the Affenberg).

By ship :
Between April 1 and October 21 (from Switzerland after April 29), the "Weißen Flotte" commutes regularly between Konstanz, Meersburg, Überlingen, Island Mainau, Rorschach, Arbon, Romanshorn, and Kreuzlingen. From all other places, usually you have to change to another boat in Meersburg or the Island Mainau, Harbor: Unteruhldingen.

By bicycle or on foot:
The Lake Dwellings are located directly at the Lake Constance bicycle route at the Lake Constance hiking trail. The distance from Überlingen: 8 km, Meersburg: 4,5 km, Schloss Salem: 10 km, Affenberg Salem: 8 km. Bicycle stands are located at the areaway, and lockers are available in the Museum.
