During the season your visit starts with a dive to the bottom of Lake Constance - in our multimedia introduction "ARCHAEORAMA" (10 minutes). You will be joining two archeologists surveying the original Lake Dwelling from the Bronze Age. At the end we welcome you in our reconstruted Lake dwellings.

Your visit is always (a partly) guided one, where you´ll enter houses which are closed in between guided tours. Depending on the time of year and day of the week we operate three different sorts of guided tours:

"Classic" guided tour
After visiting the Archaeorama (introduction) we take you on a 30 minute-travel through time. Together with an experiences guide you will visit two houses of the Stone Age and the Bronze Age. After the tour you are free to visit the remaining houses and our exhibition at your leisure. English texts can be found at the outside of the houses and in the exhibition. A free flyer in english and other languages can be downloaded here. This flyer and additional guides in english are also available in our shop at the entrance.

"flexible "open" guided tours
After visiting the "ARCHAEORAMA" and a few introductory words you discover the museum at your leisure. Our guides are waiting for you in the houses to tell you about the Lake Dwellings and their inhabitants back in the Stone Age and Bronze Age.

when: especially on "busy" days in the holiday season (e.g. late July - mid september and sundays from june - october) from 10 - 18 o´clock.

winter /off-season
.. even in the cold months we invite you to visit the Lake Dwellings: Monday - friday the museum can be visited at 2 o´clock for one guided tour of about 50 min.
We also open some weekends and holidays- please check our opening times for more details.

Please consider that we are an open air museum - so be sure to dress accordingly to be able to enjoy your visit to the fullest.

For groups of more than 15 persons: please let us know in advance if your are planing to visit. For groups a visit is also possible outside the regular opening times.

no problem! we have a lot of bicycle stand in front of the museum and lockers inside to keep your valuables safe.

planing on visiting with your dog?

Dogs on a leash are welcome in the Lake Dwellings - only the introduction (ARCHAEORAMA) is closed for them.
